Synopsis : The film is a contemporary take based on a famous Bengali Novel, which was banned in 1967 on the grounds of obscenity. The story revolves around the protagonist Sukhen who is seen through three phases of his life. The journey of this youth is showcased through the milieu in a small-town in Bengal, an underbelly of Kolkata, where crime, grit and violence play an important role in a subaltern society.

Director Bio : Subrata Sen was born in Kolkata in 1963. He went to South Point High School and Presidency College and became a journalist with a mainline Kolkata newspaper. He served as a journalist in New Delhi also. He made his first film Ej Je Achhe Kanya in 2000, which besides being awarded as a best Debut Film was premiered internationally at Karlovy Vary Film Festival. His second film Swapner Feriwala (2001) also made it to Karlovy Vary and was picked up by Variety magazine as a part of Variety’s Critics Award films. Subrata Sen was credited to have done the first digital film in India, Nil Nirjone, in 2002. Never a prolific filmmaker this is his 12th Feature length film.
