Synopsis : In a Vaishnav community nestled in rural India, “Jagan” is a vibrant portrayal of an extraordinary man residing with his old widowed mother and striving younger brother. Branded as a ‘pagal’ (a madman) in his neighbourhood, Jagan's world revolves around his deep affection for Harinaam Sankirtan, a devotional musical tradition of the Vaishnavas, and his remarkable resilience in the face of everyday challenges. However, his life takes a tumultuous turn when his closest confidant and elderly neighbour, Biren Das, passes away, plunging Jagan into unforeseen difficulties.
Director Bio : Sanjib Dey made his feature debut with the critically acclaimed film "III SMOKING BARRELS," which premiered exclusively on Netflix in 2019 and is now available on Apple TV. The film world premiered at the 38th Durban Film Festival and earned a nomination for the esteemed "Grand Newcomer Award" at the 66th International Film Festival of Mannheim-Heidelberg. It opened in India at the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala. Following this success, Sanjib embarked on his second feature film, "JAGAN." Beyond his cinematic pursuits, Sanjib is also an author. Redgrab Publications novelized his film "III Smoking Barrels."
