Synopsis : Failing a suicidal attempt, facing a bullet, faiz a confused urban soul looses himself to embark on a journey for enlightenment & identity. He discovers in this soul searching journey, his possessive ex-flame, a country youth aspiring to be a big film-star & a young mother of two in wanderlust. In a cycle ride through frozen time in a remote village he also discovers Gautma,the Buddha. Then, In an eye opening boat journey with some very poor tribal coal poachers he discovers India & Bharat. Ultimately he meets an ocean & sitting on a rock In the dawn, he wonders what is the meaning of existence & this journey? Suddenly, he finds his ex-flame again, gliding down the sky.They talk .Amidst ambiguity the film ends with a group dance where rich & poor ,old & new ,man & women participates in celebration of life.But,does it end actually or begins? This film is an expression on this, which also questions the REALITY,IDENTITY &LINIERITY of our existence. The maker has very consciously tried to come out of the practice of portrayal of human emotions dramatically on screen; rather, he has tried to create an distance between the audience & the protagonist throughout his film. His conscious effort has been to show human relationship, experience, time & memory juxtaposed through the mental & physical journey of the Protagonist to establish that life has no meaning. It is WE that give meaning to it by our good, bad & ugly .Trying to establish communication within non communication is the essence of life and there is no beginning or end to it.
Director Bio : Born in a in a Bengali middle-class, educated & cultured family got his post graduate diploma in film making specializing in Editing from Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute. Currently the FACULTY OF DIRECTION in the West Bengal govt. film Institute in Kolkata. The journey from the birth that started in Naihati to the workspace of Kolkata connected him with different Art forms like -literature, drama, painting, photography. He assisted various directors before attending Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute.His diploma film from SRFTI-'KHOJ' was the first ever student film from India to participate for CINEFOUNDATION in CANES 2002. His short films has been screened in different Indian film festivals. FOREST MEDICINE -a documentary for EUROPEAN UNION AND WHO directed by him was the inaugural film for River to River Florence International Film Fest ,2002. This film is his debut feature film as a DIRECTOR/PRODUCER.
