Synopsis : ‘Vartak Nagar - A story of four crows’ is a fictional film set against the true life event of the historic Bombay mill strike of 1982, which transformed Bombay from an industrial town to a commercial city. The film is the journey of four teenage boys set against the rivalry of the gangster Bala Chavan and the mill union leader Kunwar Singh. Vartak Nagar is a coming of age period film about the childhood we share, the trust we take for granted, the promises we break and evolve as true friends in the process.
Director Bio : Atul Taishete is an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountant of India (ICWAI). Atul Taishete quit a career in Investment Banking to pursue a vocation in film making. In 2004, he completed his post graduation from the Film and Television Institute of India. In 2004, he was also selected to attend Summer University at La Fémis in Paris. His short film ‘Rewind’ opened at the Locarno International Film Festival and won Grand Jury at the Seattle International Film Festival and the Victoria Independent Film Festival. ‘Vartak Nagar – A story of four crows’ is his debut feature film
