Synopsis : Atasi's family declared her ‘mad’ and forcibly admitted her to the Pavlov government mental asylum. She spent two years in the asylum and after her recovery she returned home. The atmosphere at home was hostile and she was extremely lonely. Then she fell in love on Facebook with a Punjabi boy who worked as a car mechanic in the Middle East. Atasi is as much a story of love in the time of madness as it is of a dysfunctional family living in an odd little house in Kolkata.
Director Bio : Putul Mahmood an alumnus of FTII, is a filmmaker, producer and teacher. She is the producer of the Bengali feature Cosmic Sex and has directed several short fiction films and documentaries. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Satyajit Ray Film and TV Institute in Kolkata.
