Synopsis : This is the story of a Muslim boy Abdul whose passion is doing a female character in Dashavatar, a traditional Hindu religious folk play performed across remote villages across the Konkan coast. Being a Muslim putting vermillion on the forehead and performing rituals before Hindu Gods is a stigma. Abdul has to do as his character and scene demands even if it means transforming himself into a Hindu Goddess. The story reveals how Abdul challenges his own beliefs and that of others to pursue his life in the spotlight and with his travelling troupe. His marriage breaks off, his deceased father may not have a decent burial but nothing seems to deter Abdul.
Director Bio : He was born in 1988. He completed his master degree in Mass communication from Pune. He started his carries from documentary production house. He worked as a creative consultant in internationally acclaimed documentary “The Rat Race”. He worked as a cinematographer for many short films, travel shows, food shows, documentary, corporate film with different Organization with different people. He directed a short film Umbrella which has been selected in many international film festivals. His love for theater and film always motivates him to express himself through cinema. He worked as a assistant director of Mr. Sandeep Sawant (2004 Nation awardees director for a film Shwass) for his next feature film “Nadi Vahate” (River flows).Recently he has worked as a assistant editor in a Indo-Pak collaboration documentary “Lyari Notes” directed by Maheen Zia and Miriam Chandy Menacherry.
