Synopsis : The film tells the story of Gulabi Meena a kind of miniature enamel jewelery craft that evolved in Banaras. Tracing its history back to Iran, Meenakari came to Banaras and changed its color and aesthetic from Blue to Pink because of how much pink was celebrated by Banarsis in their songs and in their festivities. The film uses the metaphor of the city of Banaras and how it changed over the years affecting every tangible and intangible thing that flourished in it . A jeweler and bon vivant Banarasi Raman Shankar Pandya narrates the nostalgia of having seen some of those masterpieces and having known the craftsmen and having lived in those times that may never return in this era of capitalisation and market forces.
Director Bio : Pearl is a Delhi-based media professional, with 10-years experience of working in video production as a director and line producer for films, television and new media. Starting with lifestyle-based programming, Pearl went on to work for clients like NDTV Lifestyle, National Geographic, Star Networks and TV18. She has also made various internationally acclaimed documentaries as well as advertising and online films.
