Synopsis : .Malcolm Hughes (Colin Friels) is a shy, reclusive and brilliant inventor who loses his job and then takes in two new roommates, Judith (Lindy Davies) and Frank (John Hargreaves), to help pay the rent. His life is changed with the discovery that his new roommates happen to live a criminal lifestyle, and Malcolm's inventive nature helps his new friends plan and execute an elaborate bank heist. Their newfound adventure is about to lead to an unlikely and heartwarming friendship.
Director Bio : Nadia directed her first feature film, Malcolm, winner of 8 Australian Film Institute awards including Best Picture and Best Director, in 1986. Her films, including Rikki and Pete, The Big Steal and Amy, are responsible for twenty-three AFI nominations. Nadia has continued her relationship with commercial and subsidised theatre by directing for the Melbourne Theatre Company, and in 2002/2003 directed the musical theatre production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which toured Australia and New Zealand. Nadia’s work was rewarded with a nomination for Best Direction of a Musical at the prestigious Helpmann Awards. She has also directed plays in Australia including Miss Bosnia, Cosi and Summer of the Aliens. Through her production company, Cascade Films, Nadia combines the roles of Producer and Director. One of her key assets is her ability to develop ideas and first draft scripts into shooting drafts. Nadia’s literary background holds her in good stead in this intricate complex process.
