Synopsis : A 13 year old girl lives with her mother on an isolated cottage in the country while they wait for the return of the girl's father. The relationship between mother and daughter changes with the arrival of another man. Based on two short stories by Brazilian poet Hilda Hilst, Unicorn mixes fantasy and fairytale, delivering stunning visuals through saturated landscapes in a beautiful anamorphic format.
Director Bio : Eduardo Nunes was born in 1969 in the city of Niterói, Brasil. Studied at the Film School of UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense). In 1994, he directed his first short: BREATH; followed by four other short films, which together won more than 30 international awards. Nunes was invited in 2012 to be part of RIO OCCUPATION LONDON (organized by the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro), artistic residence where he made PORTRAITS OF LONDON filmZ installation, inspired by the Hungarian writer Sándor Márai. A 30 minute film displayed simultaneously on four complementary screens that were one single environment. Also in 2012, he performs SOUTHWEST, his first feature film, which debuted at the Tiger Awards at International Film Festival Rotterdam Festival (IFFR), and was shown in 27 countries, winning 23 awards (including two Fipresci and Andrei Tarkovski’s Award gived by Andrei Zvyagintsev). UNICORN is his second feature film.
