Synopsis : Early summer, Nina Martini, a single mother gets a temporary job at the Barrata elderly residence, and moves in with her daughter Caterina. It’s a relief for her to get this job at last and she enjoys the quietness of the place and the work shifts with thirty other women, some Italian but mostly foreigners. But soon she discovers the well kept secret of the manager, Marco Torri’s well established system of small sexual favors. The sexual harassment extorted by the charming and powerful man, protected by the Catholic care structures. The silent complicity of the victims makes tough break this vicious circle. Nina starts investigating but she is isolated by her colleagues who want her to stop as they’re afraid to loose their jobs. She gets sued for defamation. Obsessed by defending the truth, she finally gets a laywer’s support and they manage to corner Torri.
Director Bio : Marco Tullio Giordana is an Italian screenwriter and director. In 2000 at the Venice film festival Giordana presented I Cento Passi (The Hundred Steps), which took the prize for “best screenplay”. In 2003 the director's TV film La Meglio Gioventù (The Best of Youth), won the "Un certain regard" Award at Cannes. His film Quando sei nato non puoi più nasconderti (Once You're Born You Can No Longer Hide) was in competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. In 2012, his film Romanzo di una Strage (Piazza Fontana: The Italian Conspiracy), about the tragic Piazza Fontana bombing that occurred on the 12 December 1969 in Milan, received 3 David di Donatello awards. Lea, his feature film based on a true story, was shot for Italian television. Tullio Giordana feature film, Due Soldati, was released in 2017 and presented at the Locarno Film Festival. His latest film Nome di donna was released in Italy early 2018.
