Synopsis : Amarcord was restored from the cameranegative, which was wet scanned at 4K.The original negative had been partiallyfixed with a second generation dupe negative.The damaged parts of the original negativethat had been replaced were foundand in some cases they were insertedback to their original place.Alternatively, the second generationdupe negative parts were scannedand restored from a first generationinterpositive and reversal dupe negative. The soundtrack was restoredfrom the Italian magnetic mixand the dialogue,music and effects negative. The digital grading was supervised by cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno. A vintage copy in good conditionsfrom CinémathèqueRoyale de Belgiumwas used as reference for grading.
Director Bio : Federico Fellini, Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (Italian: [fedeˈriːko felˈliːni]; 20 January 1920 – 31 October 1993) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Known for his distinct style that blends fantasy and baroque images with earthiness, he is recognized as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time.[1][2][3] His films have ranked, in polls such as Cahiers du cinéma and Sight & Sound, as some of the greatest films of all time. Sight & Sound lists his 1963 film 8½ as the 10th-greatest film of all time. In a career spanning almost fifty years, Fellini won the Palme d'Or for La Dolce Vita, was nominated for twelve Academy Awards, and directed four motion pictures that won Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. In 1993, he was awarded an honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement at the 65th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles.[4] Besides La Dolce Vita and 8½, his other well-known films include La Strada, Nights of Cabiria, Juliet of the Spirits, Satyricon, Amarcord and Fellini's Casanova.
