Synopsis : The making of the biopic on Nabon poses a great challenge as it deals with a subject belonging to a distant past. Nabon was a legendary figure in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya and her story is known to a great many number of people. In this respect, the research on which this film is based plays a great role in providing inputs and insights into the life and nature of the title character Nabon as well as other characters of the story. The film provides a platform or background for showcasing the indigenous culture of the time period (mid 19th century) which include natural background, community, costume and particularly, the philosophy and thought processes prevailing at that time. Of these, the two main classes of thought juxtaposing against one another are the native and western philosophies and world views. Hence, essentially, the film depicts the conflict of these two opposing mores and way of life which include belief systems, attitude and psychological disposition of both. Dealing with a delicate subject such as this, care has to be taken not to stray away from the actual events while trying to invoke licence of fictionalization for dramatic purposes. In all, the story line has been so devised that it addresses all of the above including chronology of events, inferences and the central message of the story. The performance of the casts and other peripheries ranging from sound effects, background score, special effects to costume, set designing, colouring and make-up was, in my opinion, satisfactorily met.

Involved in social projects.Have written and published 14 novels in Khasi, one English novel (fiction) and several short stories in English, directed stage plays and radio drama., Wrote scripts for All India Radio, Produced radio series on cultural themes.Wrote scripts and directed documentary films for local TV channels and Government agencies,Written and directed stage plays, Khasi feature films, short films, Khasi fiction films for DDK, Shillong. Wrote screenplays & film scripts.Translation works in diverse subjects.Recipient of Meghalaya State Literary Award, 2008.
