Director Bio : Aparajita Ghosh is a well-known face and popular name in Bengali household for nearly a decade. She began her journey in the world of glamour and glitz through a hugely popular mega serial ‘Ak Akasher Neechey’. Famous director Ravi Ojha introduced her into this world. A decade passed by and since then Aparajita acted in more than twelve popular daily soaps and in excess of fifteen feature films. She has taken part in more than twelve short / telefilms as well. Out of all these, five films were selected in Kolkata International Film Festival for five consecutive years, i.e. from 2014 to 2018. Siddharth Harikumar's short film ‘Saffron Ash’ (an Indo-UK production) has got special mention in Delhi International Film Festival ’17 and in the month of January ‘18, this film has won six awards including the Best film award in the Short Film category at South Film and Academy Festival (SFAAF ’18) at Chile. Aparajita was not only the main lead of this film; she has won the Best Actress award for this film and made our country proud. Unlike many other regions of India; Bengal never had any specific style of dance which could be termed as its own. To fill in this void Rabindranath Tagore created (or rather assimilated) a dance form which could easily be identified as Bengal's own (Rabindra Nritya). This unique style of dancing is actually a smooth blend of various dance forms. Her passion for dance and her intent to do something for the documentation of this dance form Aparajita donned the directorial hat for a docu-feature. Her debut directorial venture ‘Dance of Joy’ explores the USP of Rabindra Nriyta. This movie is the first (and only so far) work in the field of audio- visual documentation of Rabindra Nritya. Till date ‘Dance of Joy’ has been selected and exhibited in competition section of six international film festivals (including KIFF '16) , both in India and abroad. ‘Dance of Joy’ has won the ‘Best Musical Film Award’ in KinoDual Film Festival at Moscow. Besides, Aparajita has won the ‘Creative Excellence Award’ in the same festival. ‘Mystic Memoir’ is her second venture as a director and this is her first feature length film.
