Synopsis : “Sanjay Mondal & Group”is a bunch of kids and youths living in Tangra, a notorious slum of Kolkata, making music out of waste materials. In 2010, the group has reached the grand finale of Ïndia’s Got Talent”and moved the audience by their sheer musical aptitude. Group leader Sanjay Mondal, an ex-gangster in his early thirties, dreams that the performances will enable these children, to access education, health and a dignified life. But at the moment they face an uncertain future as musicians and also confront violent, exploitative and degrading social conditions that want to pin them down. The film explores Sanjay’s unique struggle to ‘recycle’ garbage and Life while wrenching recognition from a society that has always considered them as social waste.
