Synopsis : Their purpose: to save refugees from drowning. For this, Axel Steier and his team from the Dresden sea-rescue NGO “Mission Lifeline” have worked tirelessly for years to collect donations. Together with two Spanish NGO’s, they finally manage to buy their own ship and set off to the Mediterranean. In his hometown Dresden, Axel’s idea finds many friends but just as many enemies.
Director Bio : Born in Dresden in 1983, he studied Political Science, Modern and Contemporary History and Sociology in Dresden. Even before his time as a student and racing cyclist, Weinberg traveled the world, always searching for and bringing back stories. And now he's started to tell them. He worked as a freelance editor at MDR Television, as a video journalist in Saxony and as print editor at the Dresdner Morgenpost. Today, Markus works as a freelance editor / video journalist / documentary filmmaker.
Director Bio : During her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Luise began experimenting in various media forms, which she employed to tell stories. Whether in film, theatre or art, Luise has worked her way through almost all creative stations, is passionate about concepts and ideas. One way for her to implement this passion was as editor and co-director for the documentary "Mission Lifeline". The film breathes her look, her ideas and also her dramaturgy.
