Synopsis : Budhwa - a native tribal realizes his true identity while serving to his rich masters. Despite being an integral part of the Tribal Community, Budhwa sabotaged its own people, culture, Identity, and beliefs in pursuit of his greed. Budhwa being the antagonist and Rishu being the protagonist of this story, are not just the main characters of this film, but are the characters which is often witnessed in these tribes. Tribals neither ask questions, nor raise voice, because their trust is as pure and natural as their religious path ‘SARNA’. Film 'Dhumkkudiya' is based on the true events, where a family was devastated by the human trafficking. It is the tale of one such tribal Girl – Reshu, who aspires to be a hockey player, but instead became the scapegoat of Human Trafficking. For little amount of money the teenage Rishu was trafficked to Delhi for Domestic help. Film 'Dhumkkudiya' encompasses the journey of this innocent girl from her serene forest & pious village to the industrial ghetto and mediocre urban society, just to remain as an object and slave for their service. World knows that Indians have been the victim of slavery for centuries, but the Indian tribal are still being sabotaged by their own people. A bit of Budhwa and Rishu are still a certain code in their social fabric, by default Dhumkkudiya (Dhum-kku-di-ya) is the sole social institution in local indigenous culture of Jharkhand, where tribal youths gathers, on daily basis, not only to discuss their culture, politics, ethics and life lessons; but also for conflict resolutions, entertainment and fun. The tribal culture never required any other institutions like Jail, Court, Polish etc.
