Synopsis : The marriage of Priyabroto and Pritha is on the verge of breaking down after 12 years of married life.In spite of their love for each other,they have lost all compatibility. They now only have hatred for each other. In search of finding a way of ending all miseries, Priyabroto decides to kill his wife. He gets information that one Nilkantho Chowdhury, a retired professor of chemistry, has invented a poison which cannot be traced during autopsy. The victim shall die of seizure of heart and there shall be no trace of any foul play. Priyabrato goes to Nilkantha. The nature and effects of this special poison, LAJJABATI, is explained to Priyabroto. After hearing the full story of animosity of Priyabroto and Pritha, Nilkantha agrees to give the poison to Priyabroto. From thereon, we come to know about the philosophy behind the invention of the poison. It is supposed to be a tool for eradication of all anger, impatience and malice. LAJJABATI starts working in its own way, and starts reforming Priyabroto from inside. The poison engages itself in killing all other poisons of the society, thereby attempting to make the world a happier place.
Director Bio : A playwright and theatre director, Jyotishman, a member of the Indian Administrative Service by profession, has been an active member of Kolkata Group Theatre since 1989. He started his career as an actor, and later on emerged as a playwright in 1992. Today, he happens to be a leading playwright of Bengali theatre. Jyotishman started his career as a theatre director in 2013, by staging his award winning play BISH. He now has 11 plays under his belt, all staged with huge success. The film BISH, based on his play of the same title, is his first venture as a film maker.
