Synopsis : The documentary seeks to capture the exciting life trajectory of a naturalist and environmentalist, Amaresh Mitra, from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar city. Born in 1935, Amaresh initially had little access to guidance, limited desk knowledge and minimal encouragement from his family. One may not like to call Amaresh an ornithologist since he holds no conventional education or course on birds. But he is no less than an expert given his hands-on experience with time, backed by immense desk knowledge primarily gathered from “Birdman of India” Dr Salim Ali’s books. His patience, perseverance and passion helped him achieve his dream of collecting eggs of all the 158 bird species known to Bengal. Though birds are his first love, he is well versed with agriculture as well! Driven by his perseverance he visited different corners of Bengal for collection of paddy seeds from farmers. The result? He now has a collection of 220 kinds of paddy seeds, most of which are no longer available in India with some regarded as exotic indigenous paddy seeds.
