Synopsis : A very moving father-daughter bond, which is generally unusual for a Hindi film. Classical dance, which is not just the love of the girl’s life, but also becomes a weapon that defeats powerful restrictive forces of society.The unlikely but very credible courage and heroism of a traditional Muslim who chooses his daughter’s desire over obedience to his religious elders.Mee Raqsam was filmed in Kafi Azmi native village of Mijwan in Azamgarh district.
Director Bio : Sayyid Baba Azmi is an Indian film cinematographer and member of the Akhtar-Azmi film family.[1] He is son of the poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi and theatre actress, and the brother of Shabana Azmi. He is known for his work in films such as Arjun, Beta, Dil, Tezaab, Mr. India, Akele Hum Akele Tum and Pukar.[2] He started his career in mid 1970s, assisting Ishan Arya his first cousin, in Telugu films, starting as light boy. He worked with Arya for a few Telugu films, before he got an independent break. In 2020, he made his directorial debut with the film Mee Raqsam starring Naseeruddin Shah. It was released on 21 August on Zee5.
