Synopsis : Drama filmed as a ballet and based on Uday Shankar's own experiences as he set up the Almora dance centre in the Himalayas and is caught up between two women - Kamini and Uma. Shankar wrote, directed, and starred in this drama. A writer goes to a film producer with a story in the hope of selling the idea for a film. As he is explaining it to the producer, the scenes from his movie come to life as well as passages from his own life. Reality and the surreal are combined throughout the story. When the producer refuses to back his movie, the writer makes a passionate plea for Indian filmmakers to break with tradition and take on new cinematic challenges.
Director Bio : Uday Shankar (8 December 1900 – 26 September 1977) was an Indian dancer and choreographer, best known for creating a fusion style of dance, adapting European theatrical techniques to Indian classical dance, imbued with elements of Indian classical, folk, and tribal dance, which he later popularised in India, Europe, and the United States in 1920s and 1930s.He was a pioneer of modern dance in India. In 1962, he was awarded by SangeetNatakAkademi, India's The National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama, with its highest award, the SangeetNatakAkademi Fellowship for lifetime achievement, and in 1971, the Govt. of India, awarded him its second highest civilian award the Padma Vibhushan.
