Synopsis : One of the most fervent and passionate revolutionaries of the Indian Independence Movement, NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose and his contribution to India's Independence has been forgotten. The film follows the last five years of this man charged up with the idea of seeing an independent India, from his resignation as the president of the Indian National Congress in India to his journey to Italy, Germany and Japan where he brought together Indian POWs, to finally battling the Britishers in Burma to free India. “Give me blood and I will give you freedom,” roared Subhas Chandra Bose who not only inspired generations of revolutionaries, but united the world to the cause of Indian Independence.
Director Bio : Shyam Benegal is an Indian filmmaker. At the age of twelve he made his first film, on a camera given to him by his photographer father Sridhar B. Benegal. He started his career working as an advertising copywriter, at a Bombay-based advertising agency. He made his first documentary in Gujarati, “Gher Betha Ganga” (Ganges at Doorsteps) in 1962. His first feature film though, had to wait for another decade, while he worked on the script. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991. On 8 August 2007, he was awarded the highest award in Indian cinema for lifetime achievement, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2005. He has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi seven times.
