Synopsis : Pathbhola is a 1986 Bengali action drama film starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Tapas Paul, Abhishek Chetterjee and Sandhya Roy. Ravi, Suman, Rafi, Hara and Kala are five spoilt young man. Among them Suman Mukherjee is from a good family back ground. They are offered jobs by a businessman in a duplicate medicine factory. When police raids the factory, they kill a policeman by firing and run away. They reach a safe place far away from human sheltered where they meat an old man and a married lady. After some time they come to know that the old man was a freedom fighter and the lady named Abha wife of another freedom fighter Ajay. They become members of their family. They get valuable advice from the old man and affection of Abha. Rani, another young village girl also takes shelter in this family. By hard work they all start cultivation in the dry hard soil. They make a primary school for poor children. Life goes on till tragedy starts again.
Director Bio : Tarun Majumdar (or Mazumdar, born 8 January 1931) is a Veteran Bengali film director who is note for making several National Award winning films like Nimantran (1972), Kancher Swargo (1964) and Aranya Aamar (1984). he along with the famed quartet, Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha, Mrinal Sen and Ritwik Ghatak, is rated as one of the finest directors of the Bengali film industry. One of the things that separated him from the directors of his era was that his films showcased the rich Bengali culture and traditions and most of his works were recreations of classic novels of literary stalwarts like Tarashankar Babdopadhyay, Sharadindu Bandyopashyay and Bimal Kar. for his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema, the director was conferred with the coveted Padma Shri in 1990.
