Within the caging, barren walls of the eatery, their mornings are filled with repetitive tasks, and the rest of the day with vacuous, tedious hours. Behind her veil of apathy, Sương battles a dilemma that she soon has to face with her family.
Director Bio : Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Pedro’s love of film began with his parents' collection of 500 VHS tapes. He has also lived in London and Saigon, where he made a handful of independent short films. After three years in Vietnam, he started developing “The Girl from Dak Lak”, with a clear intent to make a movie with a script outline, non-professional cast, and minimal crew. This independent, self-funded film is his feature debut.
Director Bio : Mai Huyền Chi is a Vietnamese writer and director. She debuted with the short documentary film “Down the Stream”, a finalist of Vimeo's Best of the Year 2015, which led to a fiction short and a feature-length film project currently in development. She was one of the writers of “My Mr Wife” (Vietnam) (Best Picture, Golden Kite Film Festival 2019) and “A Brixton Tale” (Official Selection, 2020 Slamdance Film Festival). In “The Girl from Dak Lak” she co-wrote the script with Pedro and worked with a non-professional cast.
