Synopsis : Poetry and life are two sides of the same coin. Life as we usually conceive it contains what we normally accept as reality, but the spectacle of this incoherent and disorderly life can satisfy neither the poet's talent nor the reader's imagination. Poetry, on the other hand, does not contain a complete reconstruction of what we call reality; it takes us into a new world. The film "Jhorapalok" follows the voice of the famous Bengali poet Jibanananda Das and tries to capture his life through an imaginary visual representation of the way he was intrigued by his poetry and explored his life. The film continuously explores the transcendental transformation of the poet from his childhood to his death and the growth of his poetic conscience through time and their consequences. From his very childhood, he struggled in vain to fit into the society and the film attempts to portray this journey through the repertoire of his works.
Director Bio : Sayantan Mukherjee is an Indian writer and a director. He has worked as a creative director for movies, web series, TV series and TVC’s since 2001.His comedy drama “Adbhoot” was released in 2001 starring Paran Bandopadhyay, Kharaj Mukherjee and Biswanath Basu. Sayantan’s claim to fame is his 2021 Netflix web series “Ray”. He is the showrunner and scriptwriter of this series.
