Synopsis : A Bengali migrant falls to his death at a construction site in Kerala. His nephew Rudra, an idol-maker, arranges the funeral. Without a Bengali priest, he settles for Chaavi, a tough, Tamil midwife, who moonlights as a funeral guide. Destiny or design, they run into each other often. At times by her isolated pond; at times by his train tracks- always together, but never meeting. Something wistful draws Rudra to Chaavi. He gifts her a fish; a miniature Durga murti. Gingerly, they weave a fragile bond of kinship. A happy Rudra finally gets a much awaited visa. He wants them to have a new life, but something happens that has Rudra questioning Chaavi’s actions. A defiant Chaavi refuses to explain. A desperate Rudra wants them to leave. Chaavi is not sure if she wants to, or if she can. Despite their differences, they want to make a life together, but something dark in their past hinders them.
