Synopsis : Elena is a single mother who relies on Social Services. Her son Tom has behavioral issues and is stigmatized at school as a “problem child.” An absent father further complicates their difficult relationship. Tom is diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and prescribed psychiatric medication, but a strange accident alerts his mother as to its side effects. When Elena refuses to continue administering the drugs to Tom, Social Services threaten to remove him from her custody.
Director Bio : Rodrigo Plá – Uruguay 09/06/1968 Mexican-Uruguayan director, screenwriter and producer whose feature films are La Zona (Giornate degli autori, Venice, 2007), Desierto adentro (closing film at Critics’ Week, Cannes, 2008), La demora (Forum, Berlinale, 2012), Un monstruo de mil cabezas (Orizzonti, Venice, 2015) and El otro Tom, premiering at Orizontti this 2021. His films have been recognized with multiple awards and distinctions, including the Premio Opera Prima “Luigi De Laurentiis” for La Zona in 2007, at Venice International Film Festival.
