Synopsis : In the company of Peter Brook and his group, Carriere criss-crossed India “in search of the Mahabharata” looking for all possible theatrical forms of the great poem. He collected a series of impressions, anecdotes, conversations and sketches made on the run, making this theatrical voyage a surprising book, without any preconceived ideas and cliches, showing India in a way it has never been looked at. The story revolves around the Pandavas and the Kauravas and how jealousy separates them. The Kauravas fear that the Pandavas are after the throne of their father. Yudhishthira of the Pandavas gets told by the deity, Krishna, that he will become king. A war is inevitable.
Director Bio : Peter Stephen Paul Brook is an English theatre and film director who has been based in France since the early 1970s. His daring productions of other dramatists’ works especially Shakespeare contributed significantly to the development of the 20th century’s avant-garde stage .Brook's belief was to reinvigorate the theater through a theatrical vocabulary not tied to language. According to him, human connection is the essence of good theatre. Brooks did away with conventional methods of acting, staging, and performance.He would often use acrobatics and highly physical elements in his performances, shifting emphasis from oration to action. He has won multiple Tony and Emmy Awards, a Laurence Olivier Award, the Praemium Imperiale, and the Prix Italia. He has been acclaimed as "the greatest living theatre director".
