Synopsis : “Paras Pathar” is Ray’s first comedy and first magical realist film. Adapted from a short story of the same name by Parasuram (Rajsekhar Basu), the film offered an early glimpse of Ray's sense of humour, centered on a middle-class clerk, Paresh Dutta who discovers a stone that turns iron into gold and gets rich instantly. Police are after his secretary who swallows the stone but later they find out that the stone is losing its value.
