Synopsis : A decision made in the past leaves an indelible stain on a father-son relationship that alters the course of their lives forever. DCP Ashwini Kumar’s choice to prioritize his principles and his duty towards the law over his duty as a father lays the foundation for a long-standing conflict between his son, Vijay, and him—one that augments with time to turn into a battle of ego. Bridges are burnt over the father’s true plan going awry and the son harbours a deep-rooted hatred for him, the mother being the singular thread preventing the fabric of the family from being ripped apart completely. Review:“Shakti’s direction is strong and effective, its script direct and unwavering, and the film does not stray into any gimmick which would detract from the superb acting of its players.” – Chander Uday Singh, India Today OR “His role (Bachchan’s) was underplayed and intense. I don’t think anyone else could’ve played the role the way Mr. Bachchan did. He had to play a hurt and wounded son.” –Ramesh Sippy Trivia:Ramesh Sippy stated that Shakti was an understated film. It had less chance to do well in India because the actors gave a restrained performance. In India, yelling is considered good acting. Shakti had none of that. The public wanted a film starring Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan to be loud and rip the screen apart. They did not get that. The film was low key and had nuances that were meant to be understood. In Khakee 2004 Amitabh's character was inspired by Dilip Kumar's character in Shakti.
