Synopsis : Development projects with massive investments are challenging traditional livelihood in rural Sri Lanka. Villagers are forced to leave their traditional work and work for cheap labor in these projects. Rathi is a young girl living in a village where such transformation is taking place. With the absence of her father the responsibility of taking care of her younger brothers and the extended family falls on her shoulders. Rathi falls in love with Anil, a young man who is also struggling in these changing times. A simple scam they stage to make an extra buck gives them an unforeseen satisfaction. The scams gets bigger. The taste gets sweeter. More people are drawn in. People’s lives are ruined. Rathi and Anil are drawn into a vicious cycle of events until a point of no return. They are faced with the underworld. Anil gets beaten and Rathi is separated and taken to the city. What will her new life is be? Will she be able to return to her village?

Director Bio : Channa is one of the most senior cinematographers in Sri Lanka. He regularly collaborates with senior directors Asoka Handagama and Vimukthi Jayasundara and has shot films in Sri Lanka and aborad. He has received more than 20 award in local festivals and 3 internationally for his work. (Best Cinematographer in 2003 at the International Film & TV Festival in New York for Sulang Kirillee, in 2006 at the 27th Durban International Film Festival in South Africa for Sulanga Enu Pinisa Film and in 2009 at the Dubai International Film Festival in Dubai for Fallen from the Sky.) His first feature U Turn, a remake of a famous Indian film made records at the local box office in 2019. Doosra is his second independent feature film
