Synopsis : In this spin on The Count of Monte Cristo in which Lav Diaz criticizes the corruption under the Duterte regime, Manila Police Lieutenant Hermes Papauran, one of the Philippines’ best in the business—an achievement that overshadows his violent nature, finds himself in a deep moral crossway: he is a first-hand witness of the deadly anti-drug campaign that his institution is realizing with utmost commitment. Being corroded spiritually and physically by the atrocities, Hemes is afflicted by a severe skin disease resulting from guilt and anxiety. The process of healing, however, is lined with a dark past that haunts him and has returned for retribution.
