Synopsis : Amidst the autumn avenue in Ulukunchi of West Karbi Anglong, "Sikaisal" in its true essence is a dream which Maheshwar Patar, who singularly tasted the fruit of knowledge in his native land has built it with his bare hands. Our protagonist is a teacher by heart. His journey begins as the sole primary school teacher and sees a ray of hope when his school is government recognised, aiding him to retire in solace. But his dream is broken to learn that no teacher ever joined and saw the school filled with leaves rather than students. Education has never been the priority among the denizens, but his persistence left no stone unturned to rectify, only to face, long nights filled with failure.
Director Bio : Dr. Bobby Sarma Baruah is a National and International award winning filmmaker, film-researcher, and a screenwriter whose work focuses on the indigenous cultures of India’s North-east. Her debut feature, Adomya (Indomitable), was adjudged the best film in the spiritual category at the 13th Dhaka International Film Festival and selected in many international film festivals. Her second venture, Sonar Baran Pakhi (The Golden Wing), won the audience choice award at the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival and the Grand Jury Award at the 15th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA). Her third feature film Mishing (The Apparition), which own the Silver Lotus Award (Rajat Kamal) in the 66th National Film Award. The film is in Serdukpen dialect.
