Synopsis : This film is about the legendary history-making moment in the History of International Cricket, which established India as a daredevil competitor, and that too, in the first run. It was India’s first World Cup, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. India beat the daring monopoly, 2-time back-to-back champion of the World Cup, West Indies, on 25 June 1983, at Lords in the finals. Before the finals, on 18 June 1983, Zimbabwe, another debut team alongside India, put up a tough fight against India, and India was in a do-or-die situation. Kapil Dev made a world record of 175 runs, breaking Glen Turner’s record of 171 runs, and received a standing ovation from the crowd. These are the 2 focal points of the film, though the film was about the overall performance of India in the series. This film serves both as a time machine to revisit the glorious history, for those who witnessed the seriesin ’83, and as a documentary for the new, younger cricket fans. Overall, this is the prologue, to our (Indians) nostalgia and emotions connected with cricket. This is the story of India as a world representative. This film is a celebration of the man, Captain Kapil Dev, the main author of this history.
