Synopsis : Hrishikesh Mukherjee has created a family drama film called Anupama that is incredibly emotional and romantic. Uma's (Sharmila Tagore's) life is the focus of the narrative. She is a depressed and anxious girl whose father, Mohan Sharma (played by Tarun Bose), abuses her and only shows love to her when he is drunk, leaving her heartbroken. Her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to her. She falls in love with Ashok (Dharmendra), a kind-hearted poet, who gives her hope for a future, but she is unaware of his sinister intentions, which have negative effects.
Director Bio : Padma Vibhushan Hrishikesh Mukherjee (30 September, 1922 – 27 August, 2006), a pioneer of the ‘middle cinema’ of India counted among the greatest filmmakers of the country, directed 42 films during his four decade-longcareer. Also the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winning director, writer and editor was known for his socially relevant films that mirrored the changing ethos of the Indian middle-class and explored the different aspects of human nature, replete with all its virtues and flaws. His skill in weaving magic out of sheer simplicity earned him eight Filmfare Awards, the NTR National Award, and several other honours during his lifetime.
