Synopsis : After an explosive confrontation with her drug-addled mother, 16-year-old Murra, an Indigenous girl, finds herself abandoned in the desolate Pilbara territory of Western Australia. As she is about to become lost in the "Child Protection" system, her uncle Ian, the local police officer, throws her an uncommon lifeline in the form of a special Photo Safari. Before Murra knows it, a minibus load of "at risk" teenagers and two affable team leaders are hurtling down a sandy roadway. Is this going to be Murra's saving grace or the impetus behind her downfall?
Director Bio : Jub Clerc, a writer and director, is a Yawuru/Nyul lady from the Kimberley area. She has performed in a variety of roles in the film and television industries, including "Mad Bastards," "Satellite Boy," "Jasper Jones," and "Mystery Road" series. Clerc made her directing debut on television with "The Heights" season two. This year, she will direct her first feature film, "Sweet As," a coming-of-age story based on her personal experiences that will be shot on location in the Pilbara. Jub is a member of CinefestOZ Screenrights and has written and directed several short films, including "Abbreviation," which is taken from the feature anthology "The Turning."
