Synopsis : A young art instructor named Samet has completed his fourth year of national service in a small town in Anatolia. He loses hope of escaping the depressing existence he appears destined to live after a series of occurrences he finds difficult to comprehend. He eventually gives up on ever leaving this miserable life after a protracted period of waiting. Will meeting Nuraywho supports him in regaining perspective and is also a teacher, help him get over his anxiety?

Director Bio : Born in 1959 in Istanbul. Following his graduation from Bosphorus University, he spent two years studying filmmaking at Istanbul's Mimar Sinan University. He directed the short film Koza, which was a competitive entry at the Cannes Film Festival, in 1995. At the 1998 Berlin Film Festival, Kasaba, his first feature film, took up the Caligari Prize. He also directed the 2000 Berlin Film Festival competition film Mayis Sikintisi (Clouds of May). His film Uzak (Distant) won the Grand Prix and Best Actor honors at Cannes in 2003.
