Synopsis : Lieutenant Papauran replies dejectedly when asked what motivates a man to seek the truth, "Perhaps he just wants to keep inflicting pain on himself," He is still working to solve a case that has been open for fifteen years while navigating an area covered in ash and a lake that is impenetrable in the face of President Duterte's gruesome killings and flagrant falsehoods. He can hardly lift the cross any longer, yet he still drags it.

Director Bio : A Filipino director named Lavrente Indico Diaz, sometimes known as Lav Diaz, was born in 1958. He is particularly known for the duration of his work, with his movies being dictated more by space and nature than by time. His writing mostly addresses the social and political upheaval in his own country. Since 1998, he has directed eighteen movies and received various accolades from across the world, including the Pardo d'oro at the Locarno Film Festival (2014), the Alfred Bauer Award at the Berlinale (2016), and the Venice Golden Lion (2016) for The Woman Who Left.
