Synopsis : In the middle of a snow-covered valley in Switzerland, The Palace Hotel is an extraordinary castle built at the turn of the 20th century. Every year, it welcomes affluent and spoiled visitors from all over the world to its Gothic and fairytale setting. They have all gathered for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion on the eve of the year 2000. They have a plethora of waiters, porters, cooks, and receptionists to take care of their peculiar needs. Before the guests arrive, the hotel's devoted fifty-year-old manager, Hansueli, inspects the staff and emphasizes to them that while it may be the start of a new millennium, it will not be the end of the world. In reality, a battle over the whims and eccentricities of the hotel's visitors is about to break out. The various tales come together to create an absurd and thought-provoking black comedy. It is New Year's Eve 1999; not only is the century coming to an end, but a contentious millennium as well, and the Millennium Bug threat looms over everything.
