Synopsis : Mira, a young Swiss in search of her roots, travels to Iraqi Kurdistan, where she is confronted with terrorism, war crimes and street justice, but also with love. The film depicts two of life’s tragedies: not having our wishes fulfilled and having them fulfilled. A journey to the breathtaking landscapes of Kurdistan, but also into the political reality of a region full of conflicts. We hear about it daily, but the film brings us a totally new perspective.
Director Bio : Born in Syria, Mano Khalil is a Kurdish director and scriptwriter that studied directing in Czechoslovakia and earned his MBA in film and TV directing. He then moved to Switzerland in 1996 and started his filmmaking journey by serving as a director on several short films. He then made numerous award-winning documentaries, including TRIUMPH OF IRON and THE PLACE WHERE GOD SLEEPS. In 2003, he directed his debut feature, COLORFUL DREAMS, followed by many significant films, including THE BEEKEEPER, DIE SCHWALBE, and HAFIS & MARA. His most recent film is NEIGHBOURS.
