Synopsis : Devadas, a young man, falls deeply in love with Parvati, his childhood companion. Due to family opposition, their relationship faces challenges, and Parvati is married off to another man. Heartbroken, Devadas seeks solace in alcohol and the company of a courtesan named Chandramukhi. Devadas untimely dies as he makes a final, sorrowful attempt to reunite with Parvati.
Director Bio : Vedantam Raghavaiah (1919-1971) was an influential director and choreographer in Telugu cinema, known for his many notable films, especially during the 1950s and 1960s, and was admired for his direction of mythological and social dramas. His work on Devadasu, an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel, brought him fame and acclaim for effectively portraying tragic romance on screen. His career was instrumental in popularizing Telugu cinema and his influence extends across generations.
