Synopsis : Rita, a talented but overlooked lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, is approached by the feared Mexican cartel leader, Juan "Little Hands" Del Monte, for an extraordinary task. Manitas, as he's known, has been planning for years to leave his criminal empire behind and live as Emilia, the woman he’s always dreamed of being. Director Bio : Born in Paris, Jacques Audiard began his screenwriting career in the 1980s, eventually transitioning to directing with his debut, See How They Fall (1994), which won the César Award for Best First Film. His critically acclaimed works include A Self-Made Hero (1996), winner of Best Screenplay at Cannes, and A Prophet (2009), which earned nine César Awards and the Cannes Grand Prix. Known for films blending raw emotion and social commentary, Audiard’s Dheepan (2015) won the Palme d’Or. In addition to cinema, Audiard directed music videos, including one for Noir Désir. His first American film, The Sisters Brothers, premiered in Venice in 2018. Audiard is also involved in LaCinetek, a streaming platform curated by directors.
