Synopsis : In post-WWI Copenhagen, young, impoverished Karoline finds herself pregnant and unemployed. Desperate, she meets Dagmar, a charismatic woman running a hidden adoption agency disguised as a candy shop. Karoline agrees to work as a wet nurse, bonding closely with Dagmar. Director Bio : Magnus von Horn, born on December 21, 1983, in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a Swedish-Polish director and screenwriter known for his exploration of dark themes, such as violence and aggression. He graduated from the National Film School in Łódź, Poland, in 2013, inspired by a traumatic robbery experience to delve into human nature's darker aspects. His short films Echo (2008) and Without Snow (2011) gained international acclaim, with the latter receiving a Guldbagge nomination. His debut feature, The Here After (2015), premiered at Cannes and won multiple awards. His sophomore feature, Sweat, was set for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, while The Girl with the Needle competed for the Palme d’Or in 2024.
