Synopsis : Chiara, an actress and the daughter of cinematic icons Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, decides one summer to embody her father’s persona. She adopts his way of dressing, speaking, and even breathing, immersing herself fully in his character. Her transformation is so convincing that those around her begin to believe in her portrayal and call her "Marcello." This journey of self-discovery and homage reveals Chiara’s deep connection to her father’s legacy, blurring the lines between her own identity and the persona of her celebrated father.
Director Bio : Christophe Honoré, born in Carhaix, Finistère, is a notable French "auteur" with deep roots in cinema, literature, and theater. After moving to Paris in 1995, he contributed to Les Cahiers du Cinéma and later adapted his book Tout contre Léo (1996) on HIV into a film (2002). His 2006 film Dans Paris marked him as an heir to the Nouvelle Vague, and Les Chansons d'amour (2007) competed at Cannes. Known for exploring LGBTQ+ themes, his works include Les Filles ne savent pas nager and Plaire, aimer et courir vite (2018), the latter winning the Louis Delluc Prize. Honoré directed operas like Dialogues of the Carmelites (2013) and Così fan tutte (2016). In 2021, he released Guermantes, inspired by a disrupted theater project.
