Synopsis : In a quiet Burgundy village, retiree Michelle enjoys a peaceful life alongside her friend Marie-Claude. Eager to spend the summer with her grandson Lucas, Michelle’s plans are dashed when she accidentally serves his mother toxic mushrooms, canceling his visit. Feeling initially isolated, Michelle finds renewed purpose when Marie-Claude’s son, recently released from prison, returns home. This unexpected arrival brings new energy to Michelle’s routine, helping her overcome her loneliness and reconnect with her sense of companionship.
Director Bio : Francois Ozon, born on November 15, 1967, in Paris, is a prominent French film director and screenwriter known for his aesthetic beauty, sharp satire, and exploration of human sexuality. He has gained international acclaim for films like 8 femmes (2002) and Swimming Pool (2003), and is associated with the new "New Wave" of French cinema. Ozon studied directing at La Femis and made his feature debut with Sitcom (1998). His adaptation of Fassbinder’s Water Drops on Burning Rocks (2000) further established his reputation. Ozon's work often addresses themes of friendship, sexual identity, and mortality. His film Peter von Kant (2022) is a reinterpretation of Fassbinder's The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant.
