Director Bio : Born in Paris in 1969 to a Moroccan father and a French mother of Tunisian-Jewish descent, Nabil Ayouch developed his filmmaking passion early, partly inspired by international cinema at a local cultural center. Starting as a scriptwriter and director for Euro-RSCG, he directed his first short, Les Pierres bleues du désert (1992), with Jamel Debbouze. After moving to Casablanca, he directed Hertzienne Connexion (1993) and Vendeur de silence (1994), gaining recognition. His feature films include Mektoub (1997), Morocco's Oscars entry; Ali Zaoua: Prince of the Streets (2000), which won the Ecumenical Award; Horses of God (2012), Cannes contender on radicalization; and Casablanca Beats (2021), a Cannes-selected film about youth empowerment.
