Director Bio : Georges Franju was a French filmmaker born in 1912. He cofounded the Cinémathèque Française in 1936 with Henri Langlois, a crucial institution for film preservation. Starting his career with documentaries, Franju made a name with works like Blood of the Beasts (1949), a raw depiction of slaughterhouses. Franju's films often explore themes of anguish, fantasy, and human vulnerability. His first feature, La Tête contre les murs (1958), was followed by Eyes Without a Face (1960), which became a cult classic blending horror and poetic surrealism.
