Director Bio : Nelly Kaplan (1931-2020) was an Argentine born French filmmaker and writer known for her unique feminist perspective. She began her career as an assistant to Abel Gance, one of France’s pioneering filmmakers. Kaplan later gained recognition for her own directorial work, through her debut feature film A Very Curious Girl (1969), which is a hallmark of feminist cinema. Over her career, she wrote numerous novels and essays, and directed various films and documentaries, contributing to cinema and literature and earned her recognition within French cultural circles, including being knighted in the French Order of the Légion d'Honneur in 1996.
