Synopsis : Eleven-year-old Mona, a Kurdish refugee from Syria, lives with her family in Berlin’s diverse Wedding district. Struggling with limited German, she misses her old home, friends, and especially her aunt Helin, who encouraged her football dreams. Mona finds school chaotic, with frustrated teachers and angry students. When Mr. Che, a compassionate teacher, notices her football talent, he selects her for the girls' team. However, Mona faces difficulties fitting in, as her teammates see her as an outsider. Despite their differences, the girls soon recognize that teamwork is their only path to success on the field.

Director Bio : Soleen Yusef, born in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan in 1987, fled to Germany with her family at age nine for political reasons, eventually settling in Berlin. After completing her high school education, she studied singing and acting at the Academy of Stage Arts and trained as a fashion seamstress while working as a production assistant at mitosfilm. In 2008, she began studying directing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, where her debut feature, House Without a Roof (2016), was her graduation film. Yusef has since directed several high-profile series, including Skylines (Netflix), Deutschland 89 (Amazon Prime), and Sam – A Saxon. Her latest film, Winners (2024), premiered at Berlinale, where she was recognized as a talent in German cinema.
