He was a founding member of the Calcutta Film Society and contributed significantly to India's documentary filmmaking landscape. His notable works include "Kamallata" (1969) and the acclaimed "Eki Ange Eto Rup" (1965), which explored cultural and social themes through a realistic lens. Dasgupta's work is deeply tied to India’s post-independence cinematic evolution.
