Director Bio : Elia Kazan (1909–2003) was a Greek-American director celebrated for his work in theater and film. Known for his intense, emotionally charged films, he played a key role in bringing realism to Hollywood. Kazan directed many influential movies, often exploring themes of social justice, personal struggle, and moral conflict. His work earned him two Academy Awards for Best Director, notably for Gentleman's Agreement (1947) and On the Waterfront (1954). A founding member of the Actors Studio, he helped pioneer method acting, which revolutionized American acting. Though his legacy was controversial due to his testimony before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1952, his impact on cinema remains profound.
